Rumpelstiltskin/ Mr. Gold

This will most likely be a thread delving into spoiler territory based off of the information we already have been given from various sources.

Hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here, me being but a newbie and starting this thread, however Rumpel is my favorite character for one main reason: I have no idea what his game is.
I have a million and one theories from everything to his leg to his son to how much he knows, but I'd love to hear your takes on the man. So, how much do you think he really knows? Do you think he found a loophole in the curse to allow him to remember everything?
MAJOR SPOILER-THEORY AHEAD
I just recently stumbled across a rather interesting theory that Rumpelstiltskin/ Mr. Gold's son is Henry's father, and Rumps was able to create a loophole in the curse to allow his son to leave Storybrooke and find Emma and bring Henry back. Thoughts? I don't want to wait until January 8th to find this stuff out :'(

I like Rumple too! I can't figure out what/why he does what he does, but I definitely think he has his own agenda for things. I laugh at a lot of his one liners in the show too. lol

I've heard about him protecting his son from a war, that's why I'm curious about what lengths he'll go to do so. Also, do you think the kid s really his? After all, he seems to have an obsession with taking other people's babies. XD

=D This really made me laught.
I don't know. I guess I can't imagine him being in love, in relationship, so I can't imagine him having some baby (that is REALLY his). But I would love that, if he had some "human" background.

I too really look forward to seeing a part of him that doesn't have Obsessive Deal Making Disorder, not that it isn't funny as beans to watch. I really believe he's not bad or evil at all, based on a hunch, really, but over years of watching movies I've never liked the evil villain, always the characters who appear evil but turn out to be good, or characters who's motivations are hazy but in the end they were up to good. (Examples: Snape was always my favorite from the first book/movie and look what happened; Grima Wormtongue from LotR was my favorite and in the end he killed Sauromon; Bootstrap Bill and Norrington from Pirates of the Carribbean; etc.) My instincts have never been wrong before, so I'm sticking to the Rumpel/Mr. Gold is a good-ish guy with human qualities we'll most likely see in greater detail in episode 8 pertaining to his son, so I can't wait

I don't know. I think of him as neutral character. I don't think he's good, but I don't think he's bad, either.
I think he's not only good, though. If he was, he wouldn't steal anyones baby.. I guess. But maybe he's got some good explanation for that.

i think there is far more going on in Rumpelstiltskin/Gold that any one knows about. he all ways knows what is going on and who is doing what. since he's a precognitive he also knows what is going to happen before it does. and being a few fries short a happy meal he feels he does not have to enplane him self to any one. that carries over to Gold as well. we may never find out why he does what he does but it makes things fun trying to figure it out.

I far prefer him as Mr. Gold. Personally, I think he's got this Anakin Skywalker thing going on. Lol! He started out as good, but turned towards the dark side for some greater good... in his mindset at least.
